JWPce is a software program, which was developed by Professor Glen Rosenthal at University of California, Los Angles.   It is an excellent tool to learn kanji and vocabulary.

Learners of Japanese , especially from an alphabetic back ground , commonly share the following problems in learning kanji and vocabulary:

 *  It takes a great deal of time to learn kanji, but it is very hard to retain them for a long period.

 *   It is difficult to differentiate new kanji in work sheets from those , which have been already learned in the past.  The learners tend to think there are so many unfamiliar kanji in work sheets.

* Kanji in a hard copy are difficult to read.

* It takes great deal of time to look up kanji in kanji dictionary and sometimes the target kanji cannot be found after long search.

JWPce solve these problems.

 *   It has a search function .  Learners can quickly locate target kanji in their vocabulary list .

 *    It separates new kanji from already taught kanji by different color.

 *   It provides enlarged kanji and  information such as number of strokes , ON/KUN yomi of the kanji, and index number of Halpern and Nelson dictionaries.

 *    It has an on-line dictionary and vocabulary list maker.

JWPce is a free shareware program for PC.  It is downloadable from the following site:
