Tamaya TD-3 Balloon theodolite and TD-105E Data Collector

I received two pages on the TD-3 and TD-105E.  A color page written in Japanese and a black and white page written in English.    Tamaya has made at least two previous models of balloon theodolite.  They share the same tripod mounting system.

TD-3 is a digital balloon theodolite which is used to track a pilot balloon ascent.  The TD-3 incorporates an industry standard RS232 port for transfer of elevation and azimuth data to a printer or a computer at fixed intervals for obtaining information on upper atmospheric winds.

It digitizes and displays the electric signals from the elevation and azimuth encoders on the theodolite.  It can also sample data at a preset time intervals utilizing a built-in real time clock and output the sample data with the time information to the Data Collector (TD-105E) or computer via the RS232C data port.

TD-105E is a RS232C based data collector with an LCD display, printer, built in RAM for data storage, a real time clock, buzzer and low battery alarm.  Additional measurement points can be stored with the addition of an optional RAM card.  The TD-105E will produce an automatic print out with the datapoint number, the azimuth and elevation of the TD-3 during an observation allowing the operator to continuously track the balloon without distraction.
