| Richard Candelaria, trumpet, is a native of Los Angeles, California where he began his musical career at the age of eight. Rich's studies include California State University, Long Beach and Boston University where he studied under the Atlantic Brass Quintet and members of the Empire Brass, Canadian Brass, and Meridian Arts Ensemble, and Mr. Roger Voisen. Rich has attended the brass chamber symposiums of Summit Brass, Tanglewood, and the Atlantic Brass Seminar where he was an instructor for two years. He holds awards from many prestigious music competitions such as the Coleman Chamber Competition, Fischoeff Chamber Competition, the National Brass quintet competition in Athens, Georgia and the Concours de Quintette in Narbonne, France. Rich is a freelance musician and an avid educator of brass music in Los Angeles. He is sought after as a coach and clinician as he is a founding member of the Pacific Brass Ensemble, Los Angeles Trumpet Quartet, Odyssey Brass, West Coast Enigma Brass Quintet, Kaleidoscope Brass Quintet, and director of the Pacific Youth Brass Ensemble. |
