Virtual Field Trips and Museums

One of the first (and still best) science centers on the web, San Francisco's Exploratorium provides curricular resources and online exhibits. The exhibits on mutant fruit flies and dissecting cow eyes are among the popular places to visit here. In addition, they also have links to new and interesting sites on the web, updated often .

The California Academy of Science is also in San Francisco. One of the museum's popular sites features a collection of Far Side cartoons about science. The web site includes a bunch of info about toads, including the chance to hear how they all sound.

TheMuseum of Science in Boston offers resources for local and global communities, including a series of scanning electron micrographs.

The Franklin Institute in Philadelphia shares resources for home and classroom activities such as an electronic map of the moon.

The Missouri Botanical Garden is one of the nation's premiere botanical gardens. Their online exhibits include an extensive section about the tropics and all the foods they provide.

This site will link you to lots of museums and science centers. The site includes activities and virtual field trips.
