During my Peace Corps service, I made a few recordings of daily life. Michael (pronounced, "Mee Kel Lay") was a 10-year old boy who lived next door (his mother's name was "Hagosa" - meaning 'happy', in Tigrygna, the national language).  Michael used to come to my house in the evening for sweet tea and some dinner.

I served in the United States Peace Corps as a volunteer teacher.  I was assigned to live, learn, and teach in the Hamasien village of Dekseb, located in the north-east African country of Eritrea.  Here are a few photos of my experience.
Taking a break with colleague, Eden.     In front of my "hudmo" (hut) with Civil Engineer, Peyou, and Asmara University professor, Maricor. Corn fields in the backdrop.

I'm pictured here with colleague, Belai, enjoying sunshine with our students.
Me in my "hudmo" (hut) with neighbors' children.
