Emergency Library Media Teacher Services Credential

Anyone who holds a valid California teaching credential (multiple subject, single subject or special education), and who has passed the CBEST is eligible for an emergency Library Media Teacher Services Credential.

The application for this credential is filed by the school district, not by the individual, and the district must certify that there is a need for the Library Media Teacher who will hold the emergency credential.

A Library Media Teacher with an emergency credential must enroll in an accredited Library Media Teacher Services Credential Program and complete at least six (6) units in the program each year to meet annual renewal requirements.

Note: Most credential candidates in the CSULB Library Media Teacher Services Credential Program complete nine (9) units each year in order to take courses as they are offered in a spring, summer, fall rotation. Each course is offered only once every other year at CSULB.  Similarly, each course is offered once every other year at Northridge and San Diego starting fall of 2001.  Therefore, students may complete the program at three campuses, and may accelerate their progress by enrolling in courses at two sites simultaneously (see the Program Schedule for more information).
