Undergraduate Courses: Lower and Upper Division Courses in Archaeology

In all of my courses I have attempted to promote an understanding and appreciation of multiculturalism, diversity, and gender issues. I have tried to accomplish this through class assignments, lectures, and assigned readings. I have followed the guidance provided through the Report of the President's Task Force on Multicultural Education and Campus Diversity, Pathway to Distinction: General Education Revitalization, and personal discussion with members from various programs at CSULB. I believe archaeology can contribute greatly towards these goals as set forth by the Deans and President. I am presently working with Professor Maulana Karenga, Chair of Black Studies, to formalize an Interdisciplinary Studies track for undergraduate and graduate students in our programs. I have also worked closely with several students from Native American Studies. Over the next two years I will attempt to incorporate several of my courses under multicultural class listings.
