SCHOLARLY AND CREATIVE ACTIVITIES

Summary Statement

In the last four years I have published nine articles and delivered thirteen papers at professional meetings. I have also submitted four additional works which are presently under review. I have authored or co-authored works published in American Anthropologist, American Antiquity, Antiquity, and the Journal of Field Archaeology. I have also contributed book chapters to publications regarding anthropological theory and archaeological methods.

My contributions fall under three areas of anthropological research. First, my contributions are theoretical. I am an advocate for selectionist theory and evolutionary ecology in the study of evolutionary change in archaeology. Second, I am a proponent for the use of geophysical methods in archaeology and chemical analyses of archaeological materials. Third, my research efforts to reconstruct climate and culture change in the American Southwest and California have been published in several journals. Lastly, we have created a "state of the art" ICP-MS laboratory for the study of archaeological materials.

Because of space limitations, I have elected to highlight a cross-section of my research efforts below. I have summarized my contributions and provided abstracts for my articles. Most of my work is strongly interdisciplinary. In my role as coordinator of several diverse research projects, I have gained a great appreciation for the "team approach" to scholarship.
