This book manuscript examines Spanish Colonialism in North America from 1760 to 1840 and is a longer version of my American Anthropologist article. Attempts to integrate a selectionist perspective with risk minimization theory, an approach that may be innovative and useful in the study of cultural evolutionary processes.
