In 1997, my students and I completed geophysical surveys at Monticello for the purpose of identifyng the cemetary which was used by the enslaved people on Thomas Jefferson's plantation. We also conducted surveys in areas that were assumed to be the residential locations as well. The work was conducted at the request of Dr. Fraser Nieman, the Director of Archaeology Research at Monticello.
