Upper Division Laboratory Courses and Graduate Research
These past several years, I have made a concerted effort to make my courses more rigorous and structured. I have attempted to introduce our students to higher- level methods and theories in archaeology which they will be expected to know when they enter graduate schools elsewhere. I have discussed the curriculum with archaeology faculty at the University of Arizona, University of California Santa Barbara, University of California Los Angeles, and the University of Colorado. Although my expectations and performance requirements are high, I feel the students will benefit and will be able to compete with students from more prestigious universities. Our students' success will help promote the reputation of our program as well, which will in turn help our students to gain access to the best archaeology graduate programs.
