  • Chemical Abstracts online
    • A database of article abstracts
  • Registry File
    • A dictionary-type file of chemicals
  • Both:
  • Cover: 1906-date
  • Created from published chemistry literature

Find a Chemical by Name
  • Explore Substances
  • Substance Identifier
    • Enter name or CAS# of chemical, click ok
    • Click on CAS Number for chemical information

    • Molecular Formula

  • You can draw structures and search them

  • Find recent journal articles

  • Find CA number, structure, synonyms, physical properties and proper disposal

Find an article by an author
  • Explore References
    • Author Name
    • Enter the author’s last name and first initial, click ok
    • A list of names will come up, select one or more.
      • Click Get References.
    • A list of articles will come up
      • Click the title to see the full abstract
      • Click Get Full Text to see if there is easy online access, if this does not lead to full-text, search for the journal title in COAST, you may still find full text online, or you may find print in the library.
