If you're a beginner, keep your designs simple and user-friendly.

  • Make sure the text is readable against the background.
  • Try to have all the key information about your page visible on the first screen without scrolling.
  • Avoid gigantic images that take a long time to load on modems.
  • Look at your page under different browsers, as colors and spacing can vary, and you have no control over what browser people use to look at your page. Keep several browsers loaded on your machine: Netscape 4, Netscape 3, and Internet Explorer.
Once your are comfortable with Web-authoring, look at other pages for ideas. Some excellent examples:
