The World Wide Web has caught on like wildfire in only a few years, in part, because of the high demand for easy access to texts and multi-media materials by computer users around the globe. But demand is only part of the reason -- the explosion of supply of Web sites is also an important part of the growth of the Web. And the supply of Web sites has exploded because ordinary people with limited computer expertise have discovered how easy it is to author a basic Web page. You can author a perfectly acceptable Web page with simple text, images, and formatting. The current generation of web-authoring programs work much like word-processing -- you enter text and format, and perhaps images. The program writes the HTML code for you.
