Simple Ways
to Start
 

Look at what other faculty in your discipline are trying on-line. One of the best sets of links to other courses is at the University of Texas:
 

Don't try to do everything at once. Try a few simple things on the Internet until you get comfortable with the technology, e.g.:
 

  • Class web page by instructor with syllabus, assignments 
  • Class e-mail list to encourage communication 
  • On-line Discussion group on specific topics, issues 
  • Assignments to write about certain material on the Web 
  • Finding Assignments on the Web to locate and evaluate resources
  • Group Projects: researching a topic and creating a Web page on the project
