Asada, Kazuyo (COR Associate) "After a long pre-major period, I became a psychology major in Summer 99. My broad research interests in ethnic minority population include violent behavior of alcoholics, prevention of aging process, language acquisition, and nonverbal behavior. As one of Japanese workaholics in the past, I am interested in a relationship between death caused by stress and work behavior as well. Besides studying individual differences, I like fishing in the middle of nothing but a lake and nature, reading with a big cup of coffee and a big piece of chocolate cake, watching films of Kurosawaâs or D. Lynchâs, and appreciating great musicals such as Andrew L. Webberâs."
Bruce, Jason "I am a senior majoring in human development and minoring in psychology. My interests lie in the field of social psychology and include stereotyping, impression formation and first impression. Although undecided in my future plans, I look forward to learning skills needed for academic research as well as meet and work with established professionals in the field of social psychology. My interests outside academia include mountain biking, hiking, tattooing, music and most importantly, having fun at whatever I do."

Flores, Edwin "I'm a senior and a psychology major.  I am currently working on a research project in the field of psychometrics.  I plan to go to graduate school and pursue a Ph.D.  My interests in research lie in the fields of psychometrics and I/O pscyhology.  My interests outside of school range anywhere from doing anything to doing nothing."
Update: Edwin has graduated with a B.A. in Psychology. (07/2000)
Gonzalez, Jacqueline "I am currently a senior and a Psychology major. My research interests include eating disorders, depression and divorce. My plan is to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Child Psychology. My best experience so far has been working with disabled kids in an elementary school because I was able to reach out to them when no one else would. This year, I will be doing research on adolescent identity development with Dr. Avery Goldstein. My dream graduate schools would be UCLA first, then USC, and Penn State."

Izarraraz, Lorena  "I am currently a Senior Psychology major.  My research interests include child and adolescent development.  Once I receive my B.A., I plan to attend graduate school and pursue a Ph.D. in Child Psychology.  I have worked with physically disabled children at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey.  I am currently researching on what people's definitions, beliefs, and attitudes are regarding child abuse."
Morikone, Rachel  "Hi!  I am currently a junior and a Psychology major.  At the moment, I am interested in cognitive research, as well as psycholinguistics.  I intend to pursue a Ph.D in one of the previously mentioned areas, although I have yet to decide which.  In addition to participating in the COR Program, I am also involved on campus as a peer mentor for the Learning Alliance."
Newon, Jennifer " I'm a junior, and as of now a pre-major in psychology.  My research interests are currently very broad and I'm also interested in the fields of English and dance.  I plan to get a Ph.D in psychology and I would love to apply it in a unique setting."

Update:  Dung-Hanh is going to pursue a Ph.D. degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Michigan State University in the Fall. (07/2000)
Ohta, Melissa
Robleto, Karla (COR Associate) "I'm a senior and a Psychology major. My area of interest is in the field of Neuroscience and my plans are to pursue a Ph.D. with an emphasis in this field. I have worked on fear inhibition experiments and this year I will be working on a study involving the expression of place preference."
Update:  Karla is attending University of Southern California in the Fall of 2000. (07/2000)
Vera, Claudio " I am currently a junior and a psychology major.  My Research interests include studying Latino and African American gangs.  In addition, I would like to study the paradigms of self-esteem and Leadership as they apply to ethnic constructs.  I would like to pursue a Ph.D in research or social Psychology; and study at USC or UCLA."
