Zion is another hidden jewel. Set in a valley to me it rivals Yosmite valley for its granduer. No large waterfalls, but lots of hiking, a river and some beautiful Southwest rock formations. Since Zion is so small it only has one hotel/cabin area, but the cabins are very nice. Since we were there in late summer, evening thunderstorms and power interruptions were the norm, so it was great to be under a real roof!

Hard to believe that what looks like lush tropical vegetation can be in a place so close to the arrid Utah/Arizona mountains. Daily afternoon and evening thunderstorms during the late summer guarantee lots of water flowing through the canyon.
A late afternoon shot from the canyon wall trail back down towards the valley floor and our lodging location.
Another shot across the canyon.
