Field school participants stayed at the Casa de Maria Bed and Breakfast in Colonia Reforma, Oaxaca City.
Lectures were held on the third floor terrace.

Market excursions:

The regional marketing system with a central daily market in Oaxaca City at the Centro de Abastos and Benito Juárez markets, and tianguis and covered market in Central Valley towns on different days of the week has been in practice since at least the 16th century.

The class visited the Thursday market in Zaachila (known for livestock), Friday market in Ocotlán (flowers), the Sunday market in Tlacolula (known for produce and crafts), and the Monday market in Ixtlan de Juárez.

Ocotlán (with visit to Rodolfo Morales Musuem and to the pottery studios of Josefina and Guillermina Aguilar.
