A total of 42 semester units of criminal justice classes are required.


CORE Courses: Must earn grade of "C" or better in each course.

CRIM 101 Criminal Justice System and Society (or equivalent course from another college or university)

CRIM 151 Introduction to Criminal Law (can use a similar course from another college or university)

CRIM 303 Statistics in Criminal Justice -- possible substitution

CRIM 351 Adjudication Process in Criminal Justice

CRIM 404 Theories of Crime Causation

CRIM 468 Correctional Systems

CRIM 480 Introduction to Research Methods

CRIM 483 Enforcement Systems

CRIM 487 Juvenile Justice

CRIM 495 Internship -- possible substitution


Upper Division Criminal Justice Electives: 12 semester units

Take any 4 upper division criminal justice courses that are not used as core classes.

At least one (1) of the following courses must be included in your upper division CRIM electives:

CRIM 305 Ethics

CRIM 331 Security Systems

CRIM 373 Victimology

NOTE: You may take up to 9 units of CRIM 499 as long as each time you take the course it involves a different topic.

NOTE: CRIM 499D has been renumbered CRIM 494. Do NOT take CRIM 494 if you have already taken the gangs class when it was CRIM 499D. The computer will treat it as a repeat/delete and you will not get credit for CRIM 494.

NOTE: You may take 6 units of internship (CRIM 495). If you do this, 3 units will be counted as the CORE class and 3 units will be applied to the upper division criminal justice electives.


Other University Requirements that Must Be Completed:

 NOTE A maximum of 70 semester units from two-year colleges may be applied toward the B. S. degree.
