Echevarria is active in research relating to effective instructional
programs for English language learners including those with learning
disabilties. Currently, she is co-project director for
the Center
for Research on the Educational Achievement and Teaching of English Language
Learners (CREATE) studying "“The
Impact of the SIOP Model on Middle School Science and Language Learning.” This contract is administered by the U.S.
Department of Education,
Institute of Education Science (IES).
