
Judges of California's Sixth District Court of Appeals questioned lawyers on both sides of an issue pitting Apple Computers against three websites that focus on reporting about the Cupertino-based computer company. Lawyers from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, appearing on behalf of the online reporters who broke news about unreleased Apple products, argued that emails between confidential sources and reporters should be protected under the First Amendment. Conversely, Apple, Intel, and several other companies, argued that releasing such information put the companies at a competitive disadvantage.
