New Journalism Resource @ the University Library
The University Library has added the Encyclopedia of International Media and Communications to the reference collection on the first floor. As a review in Booklist points out, by using this four volume set "[o]ne can learn about the history and current status of comic strips and comic books; the basics of intellectual property law; the place of photojournalism, poetry, drama, and fiction; and many more topics in this comprehensive resource. The scholars and journalists who wrote the essays represent colleges, universities, and other institutions throughout the world (though most are from the U.S.), making this an international product. Knowing a bit about the media of a country or region of the world is an important step in understanding the culture and politics of the area. This set provides students and the interested public with important facts and insights into the changing roles and functions of old and new media."The Encyclopedia of International Media and Communications can be found in the Reference section of the library, under call number P87.5 E353 2003.
