Developing a Free Press in Iraq?
According to a report in Wednesday's Los Angeles Times, United States "military information operations" troops have paid Iraqi newspapers to run stories that are supportive of U.S. operations in that country. This is happening at the same time that the U.S. State Department is training Iraqi journalists in, what the article describes as, "basic journalism skills and Western media ethics."
