A WORD FROM HENRI:
Sorry I didn't send an issue out last Friday. Being that
it was Thanksgiving, I had a few days off to spend with the
family.
I'm in the midst of working on the airplane passenger and
equipment listings. Also, the hotel housing lists for the
breakdown of triples and doubles. We're reviewing the
potential list of chaperones. There's a lot of activity
going on this month to prepare us for the trip.
As soon as you get your passports, please give me a copy.
I'll have a master folder of everybody's passport while on
the trip.

CLARION HOTEL IN LIMERICK:
I got word this week that the hotel we will be staying in
Limerick will be the Clarion Hotel. Choice Hotels
International voted the Clarion Hotel in Limerick, the
European Clarion Hotel of the Year. It is Ireland's
tallest hotel in the heart of Limerick city.
Superbly located on Steamboat Quay, and just a few minutes
walk from the city centre, the Clarion is the perfect
retreat, with spectacular views of Limerick and it's famous
River Shannon.
The rooms are beautifully designed with contemporary light
oak furnishing, air-conditioning ease, ISDN line, and
interactive cable TV facilitating the guest to set up their
own wake up call.

TRAVELING IN STYLE:
I just wanted to let you know while we are in Ireland
Cronin's Coaches will be company that transports us in
Dublin and Limerick. They are the winner of the Irish
Tourist Board Award of Excellence. Their executive coaches
include video, toilet and air conditioning.

LONDON SLANG:
Searching the web I found a website dedicated to London
slang. Since we'll be there a couple days, this will help
you get use to the lingo you'll encounter.
Arrows: The game of darts
Barmy: A foolish person
Bell: A telephone call
Bird: Common term for woman/girl/girlfriend
Blow off: Polite word for fart
Bobby: Policeman
Brass Monkeys: Cold weather
Chip: To leave
Crikey: Expression of astonishment
Diamond Geezer: A good solid reliable person
Dog's Dinner: Overdressed or in a mess
Face-on-a-Stick: Term for skinny but attractive girl
Folding: Paper Money
Hooter: Nose
Keep your hair on: Keep calm
Keep your Pecker Up: Stay positive; Look on the bright side
When my wife and I with our best friends were in England 1
½ years ago on an 8-day trip somebody actually said to me,
"Keep your pecker up" while we were waiting in line for
something. My first thought was, "Boy these Europeans sure
are forward." My wife let me know what they meant.

SO WHAT IS A FULL IRISH BREAKFAST?
There's fruit juice and cereal, with brown bread and scones
if you like. Then the tea and toast appears, just to keep
you going while the main event is cooking - here it comes -
Rashers of Bacon, 2 Sausages, 1 Grilled Tomato, 1 Fried Egg
(usually overcooked), 1 Piece of Black Pudding, 1 Piece of
White Pudding, and some more toast-in case you're running
out.

FUND-RAISING REVIEW:
Scrip: I would again recommend you purchase as much scrip
as possible between now and February. If you have any
questions please contact Tammy Deptula. She can be reached
at (714) 994-1263.
At the "All Hands" meeting at 7:00pm Monday, December 8th
in the Band Room we'll be taking a survey and/or sign ups
to determine the level of parents & students wanting to
participate in fund raising activities. You can only go
back to the well so many times on approaching the same
relatives and friends to buy candy for instance. We would
like to know the level of interest before we offer a
variety of fundraisers. Then we can tailor it to match the
needs of the people that need some help in paying for the
trip.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
(Q1) Are we going to wear the Shamrock Regiment Spirit
Shirt in Ireland and England?
(A1) We might wear the spirit shirts to travel. But most
likely we'll be purchasing a specific shirt for the trip.
Normally questions will be answered in the weekly
newsletter. If the questions require an immediate response,
I'll send out a special email.

SHOW ME THE MONEY:
$100 US Dollars = $58 Pound Sterling (Great Britain)
$100 US Dollars = $83 Euro (Ireland)
Rate valid as of: 12/05/2003
Currency conversions are based on Yahoo Currency
conversion.
I'm glad we aren't going on the trip for another 3 months.
It will give the Dollar time to get stronger against the
Euro and Pound Sterling. Since the trip was priced in
August, the Dollar has lost 9% to the Euro and 7% to the
Pound Sterling. Right now you wouldn't get much bang for
the buck.
