PRO-Health Mission Statement

PRO-Health was established by Dr. Urizar in 2006. Our mission is to provide innovative health programs to improve health among underserved populations by collaborating with community partners.

PRO-Health addresses several areas of health, including:

· Examining the effects of stress on health

· Investigating factors that may impact the health of mothers and their children

· Reducing one’s risk for cardiovascular disease

Please look at current programs to see what health programs are currently being offered by PRO-Health.

Dr. Urizar’s research in the area of Health Psychology

has focused on examining psychosocial, behavioral,

and physiological factors associated with physical and

mental health outcomes.

The primary objective of this research has been to

identify groups at-risk for chronic health problems

and to develop and test community– and hospital-

based interventions designed to promote chronic

disease prevention and management in medically

underserved populations.  A number of grants from

NIH, and other Federal and State agencies have

supported this work.
