-
What "attributes" are associated with TIGER?
-
How would you get TIGER data into a GIS such as ArcGIS?
STEPS in Converting a TIGER file to a Coverage in ArcGIS and "Workstation
Arc/Info"
-
Run ARC ("Workstation Arc/Info" in ArcGIS 9)
-
use the command: TIGERARC TGR06nnn.xx cover_name
to import the line features. [ aka "prefix"]
-
use the command: BUILD cover_name LINES to build line topology for
the coverage.
-
Run ArcMap and ADD the coverage to the map.
-
ADD the TABLE named "cover_name.ACODE" to the project (Note: it MAY
be an INFO file).
-
Find the corresponding TIGER_Line_ID fields in the two tables and Join
the "ACODE" file with the arc-attribute file.
-
Use the Query Tools to select all ROADS [ road features
have CFCC values between A01 and A99 ]
-
You may want to "CLIP" the roads to the extent of the other Layers. [TIGER
lines come from for an entire county!]
-
Convert_to_Shapefile option to save the selected records
into an ArcView Shapefile format.
-
Make a MAP using the NEW TIGER Roads shapefile.
