Retained as a Consultant and Expert Witness by the Law Offices of the Orange County Public Defender in connection with the murder trial of Fernando Avila Navarro. August 1998.

Approved to teach two 24 units classes and 16 seminars (2 to 3 units) which I developed for CIMCE (Court Interpreters Minimum Continuing Education) credit by the Judicial Council of California.

Translated all the Los Angeles County Museum of Art general information brochures into Spanish.

Translated into Spanish, under a grant from the California Department of Traffic Safety, five brochures dealing with all aspects of driving under the influence (DUI), which were distributed statewide. Recorded these materials for use by the Courts.

Gave a six week seminar in Court Interpretation to the members of the California Court Interpreters Association (about 200 interpreters participated) Aug.-Sept., 1979.

Several Seminars to the interpreters working in the Immigration Courts in the Western states.

Official Translator of all elections materials into Spanish for the City of Los Angeles

Was interviewed on September 6, 2001 by Howard Breuer for an article in The Sunday Press Telegram on Translation/Interpretation and the Courts and the First B.A. in Translation and Interpretation in the U.S. at CSULB. The article came out on Sunday, September 9. 2001 on p. 2 of the Press Telegram .

Was interviewed in December 1998 by Ronald Reis for an article in Working World - Los Angeles Career Opportunities on Translation/Interpretation as a career and the projected BA/MA Program in T/I at CSULB. Working World has a circulation of 250,000.00 in the Los Angeles area. The article came out in February 1999.

Numerous interviews on translation and interpretation with radio stations (KLVV), television stations (Mundo Latino, Channel 34 and Channel 52, Channel 9, etc. on the role of the interpreter in the US Legal system), and the press (The Ledger, La Opinión, the Los Angeles Times, etc.).

OTHER EXPERIENCE

Have directed various plays in Spanish and French, and have done some acting. Have developed audio-visual techniques for the teaching of interpretation.
