The CSULB French Graduate Program prepares
students for a number of career and advanced degree options. We are proud
to offer students the possibility to expand their knowledge of France
and the Francophone world within a global context. The Masters Program
at California State University, Long Beach is the ideal choice for students
with a BA degree who wish to acquire a more profound Francophone experience,
to explore college-level teaching through our Teaching Associate Program,
or to prepare for a Ph.D. program in French Literature or Cultural Studies.
Teachers of French who wish to advance in their careers are encouraged
to apply. Our program has been organized with the working student in mind.
The majority of our coursework is scheduled in the late-afternoons or
evenings in once-a-week three-hour seminars. Study abroad for Grad students
is available in Paris on a semester-by-semester basis through our campus.
A graduate exchange program with the University of Rouen provides an additional
study/work abroad possibility.
The University Library as excellent holdings in French and the easy-to-use "Link," with a number of other campuses in the area that makes library materials available to CSULB students. Additionally, interlibrary loan provides rapid access to the library resources of the entire country. Our courses, teaching-associate training, lectures, and exchanges will provide you with professional skills for an increasingly global job market. Apply for admission to the University, with objective of M.A. in French. 2. Have a copy of transcripts of all previous University-level study sent to Graduate Advisor, French Department. 3. Contact the Graduate Advisor for an appointment as soon as transcripts have been sent. PREREQUISITES for Admission to Classified Standing in French:Either a B.A. degree in French, or at least 18 units of upper-division study in French equivalent to the Basic Core of the CSULB Bachelor's Degree in French, with at least a "B" (3.0) average in the major. The candidate must pass the CSULB Writing Proficiency Exam (WPE). three confidential letters of recommendation to be sent to the Graduate
