If you drink coffee, but want to be kinder to the environment and your health, drink organically grown coffee. And if you want to help one of your favorite organizations like the Puvungna Coalition or the Bolsa Chica Land Trust, buy the organic Puvungna Blend or Bolsa Chica Blend that are now offered by the Living Planet coffee house at 340 E. Fourth Street in Long Beach. Ten percent of the profits from sales of these blends go to the organization for which they are named.
A group of students on campus for the Student Environmental Action Coalition conference in November visited the Puvungna site along Bellflower where they were received by Native Americans and other Save Puvungna Coalition members one evening where all enjoyed a meal provided by Food Not Bombs. On November 22 another teach-in was held on the campus.
And on December 10 the coalition plans to send a contingent to the Bolsa Chica "Stand Together" demonstration in support of saving all of the 1700 acres of wetlands and mesas left there. The "Stand Together" event will be held rain or shine between 9 and 11 a.m. Parking is available on lots near Pacific Coast Highway and Warner in Huntington Beach. Everyone is encouraged to join in this show of support for preserving the Bolsa Chica ecosystem.
For more information about meetings and events of the Save Puvungna Coalition, readers are invited to call the Puvungna Hotline at 985-4619.
