Dear Barack,

Well, IÕm eagerly awaiting Inauguration Day and our honeymoon. But, I have to say, things are looking rocky. My friends tell me IÕm na•ve, and point out the rather unsavory characters youÕre been hanging out with since our engagement, and point out your refusal to take a stand on certain key issues which will certainly affect our relationship. They say youÕll never really represent ME.

But IÕve been understanding. I know the issues are complex, and, as you say, we Americans can only have one President at a time, and when you do become President, youÕll be ... well, President.

But then, I learned that you told Congress you want a bailout bill on your desk by the time you take office on the 20th. Gee, if you can do this, why canÕt you tell them you want a cease-fire in Gaza by then, too? And a cease fire in Iraq and Afghanistan? And how about a pledge that youÕll never be the first to use nuclear weapons? Like China?.

I know, IÕm being unreasonable. Chalk it up to last minute jitters. I really do care about you and want things to work out between us. I have great hopes for our relationship. And IÕm looking forward to meeting your new puppy.

Sincerely.
