This site is the best web site because it gives us a

step by step detailed procedure on treating chemical burns. In

treating chemical burns, the victim may experience shock.

Aware of the possible incidents (i.e. shock or poisoning)

that could occur, Mayo has provided an additional link to

give us an easy access to information about treating and

recognizing victims in shock.

The treatment of chemical burns begin with the

removal of the cause of the burn. Flush the skin of the chemicals with

running wataer for a minimum of 20 minutes. Check the

victim's condition. If he is faint, pale or breathing

quickly, treat the person for shock. Remove any clothing or

articles that has been contaminated with the chemical.

Apply a dry sterile dressing or clean cloth to the sight of

burn. If the victim complains of increased burning or pain,

wash the burned area with more water.

Minor burns will heal itself. However, if it is a

2nd or 3rd degree burn or the burn is on the hands, feet, face,

groin, buttocks, or a major joint, immediate medical

attention is needed.
