1991 Oakland-Berkeley Firestorm


    On the morning of October 20, 1991, the Oakland Fire Department received a call of a hot spot fire in the Oakland-Berkeley Hills. In the hours that followed, a firestorm of unprecedented proportion engulfed 2.5 square miles of the East Bay Hills. This fire became one of the largest and most costly in U.S. history
