Course Objective:
This semester of advanced lighting study concentrates on special technical
and design challenges of the art of lighting. Areas covered include Cueing
and the Structure of Cueing, Lighting the Musical, Lighting Dance, and Video
Lighting. Touring procedures are also covered, along with the business and
legal side of the profession. Ongoing discussions on the progress of designs
for departmental productions are also included.
Requirements:
The student will attend all the plays produced by the department so they may
be discussed in class.
The student is expected to attend all classes and special seminars. If the
student misses more than three classes his/her grade will be lowered one step
from the final evaluated grade for each additional day missed.
Projects turned in after the due date will not be accepted unless for compelling
reasons.
Exam and project dates are subject to change.
Evaluations:
The student will be evaluated on three class projects that will count for
a total of 60% of the final grade. The student will be evaluated on their
individual progress on class assignments. In addition, there will be a final
exam/project that will count for 30% of the final grade. The remainder 10%
will be evaluated on class participation.
