Objective: This course covers the use of computers in all areas of theatrical production and related areas in the Fine Arts. The goal of this class is to provide a sound understanding of the nature of the computer, the relationship between hardware and software, the functions of the major types of general purpose software available, and to provide the ability to use the computer as an effective tool in all areas of theatre production. Areas to be covered include a discussion of the fuctional parts of a computer system, practical experience with all major types of software available including word processing, data base management, financial worksheets, communications, computer graphics, presentation, and web development applications.

Internet Account: Each student must sign up for an internet access account during the first two weeks of the semester. You may do so at the North Campus Library

BeachBoard: You will need to be able to access BeachBoard. Some of the information concerning this class will be available only on BeachBoard.

Grading: Students will be graded on the basis of nine projects and class attendence. Each project is worth 10% of the final grade. Projects must be emailed to the professor on or before the due date. To obtain full credit, all objectives of the assignment must be met.  Attendance is also worth 10%. Anyone not present at the beginning of the class will be marked absent. An excused absence is any absence that fits within the university's excused absence policy. Please see the university catalog for more information.

Required Materials: A USB Flash Drive will be needed to transfer and store your work. 

Other Information: There is no food or drink allowed in the computer classroom. There will be a 10 minute break during the class period.
