I
am fortunate to serve California State University Long Beach (CSULB) as Vice
Provost, Director of Strategic Planning, and Professor of Psychology. As Vice
Provost, I am responsible for planning and managing an academic budget in
excess of $140m, admission policies and practices, enrollment of 37,000
students, leadership of student success initiatives, and academic
facilities. As Director of Strategic Planning, I lead the annual campus
strategic planning process and cross-divisional initiatives related to
enrollment, student success, and accountability. As a
scholar with a specialization in applied social research and program
evaluation, I have authored or co-authored more than 130 scholarly
publications, presentations and technical reports as well as external grants
totaling several million dollars. I have collaborated extensively with
public schools; I founded and for several years directed a California K-16
conference in
