Situation:

We have a square of side two units. This square has an area of four units.


Question:

Find a square with double the area of the original square.


Solution:

By crocheting four granny squares, each half white and half blue, and sewing them together. The white square formed by sewing the original squares together has twice the area of each of the original squares.
