Welcome to Mr. B's web page.
This page is dedicated to High school chemistry at Wilson High school in Long Beach, California. All assignments posted are based on the text, Chemistry, Prentice-Hall, 2008.

WebElements is a world wide and best known site for information about the periodic table of the elements (PTOE). This site is extremely useful for finding the properties and other information on each of the elements on the PTOE.

The video series, The World of Chemistry (not related to the textbook( is extremely informative and can be view on line. To access the videos used the login dbosonetta@lbusd.k12.ca.us and the password, chem12fall
(all lower case and no spaces). It is free and you may establish your own personal login and password if yo wish! There are also videos on other topics besides science. The videos bring chemistry to the real world and show the connection between science and everyday life.
Selecting the apples will take you to the gradebook progarm I use to report current grades for all my classes. The program is SMAESTRO and is a very complete gradebook program for WINDOWS. Each srudent has been issued a personal and private Student ID and PASSWORD that allow the student to access the the current grade and other information such as class standing, and course comments..

The "HIGH SCHOOL HUB" (Now called High SChool Ace) is a site that give help to high school students in ALL discaplines. (not just science).
For chemistry help, choose Science and then Chemistry.

"Molecular Models" by Dave Woodcock, is a fantastic site.
Here can be viewed 3D models in full rotation showng the construction of complicated molecules like DNA and proteins as well as simple moelcules like water.

I have been teaching for more than 27 years and have been teaching science at Wilson High school for fourteen years. I also teach chemistry part-ime at the California State University in Long Beach, California
Prior to teaching full-time, I taught science part-time at the Long Beach School for Adults while working full-time as a chemisty in the fields of pharmeceuticals, paints and coatings, detergents and surfactants, and chemical instrumentation, I have also taught computer applications
(MAC and Windows operating systems)

The high school course is based on the California Depanrtment of Education's content Stantards for Chemistry.
