Summer enrollment steady

By Caroline Limuti
Summer Forty-Niner

While  Cal State Long Beach enrollment has risen by more than 5 percent over the past year, summer session enrollment has increased only about one-half percent over last year.

The summer enrollment for 2000 is at 14,533 class enrollments, up slightly from last year's 14,436, according to University Extension, the organization that runs summer session. The number of classes is not a head count as it does not account for students enrolled in more than one class.

University Extension is not supported by taxpayers, as is the university itself. Total tuition collected for summer session this year was $5,889,730.
