Report
Richard Park, a Cal State Long Beach art student, won
a $2,500 scholarship from The Star Foundation and had
his work shown at the Society of Illustrators' prestigious
student exhibition in New York, the College of the Arts
has announced.
More than
5,000 entries were submitted from students across the
nation, and 106 were accepted -- including two others
from CSULB.
The recognition
highlights a successful academic year for the College
of the Arts, which also announced that 12 other students
from a student body of 2,500 have been honored.
In addition
to Park, So Ra Chung and David Smith had their works
displayed at the exhibition. All three studied under
CSULB professor George Zebot.
Three other
CSULB students earned $2,500 scholarships. Shane Kohatsu
(industrial design) and Amy Fortune (interior architecture
design) won the Richard Baker Arts scholarship. Jeanette
Odle was recognized by the Network of Executive Women
in Hospitality for interior architecture design.
Janet Puglisi
won $1,000 from the Dramatic Allied Arts Guild for interior
architecture design.
Receiving
$1,000 apiece from Fine Arts Affiliates were Kirk Flores
(industrial design), Alejandro Garfio (industrial design)
and Michiko Kawakami (interior architecture design).
Eun Joo Choi
won $2,000 for interior architecture design from Color
Marketing Group.
The Network
of Executive Women in Hospitality also awarded scholarships
for interior architecture design to Diane Sharp ($2,000),
Jenny Pigao ($2,000) and Michiko Kawakami ($1,000).
Jenny Pigao
and Karen Mevorakh won $500 apiece for interior architecture
design from AIA/Los Angeles.
