Construction work on Route 22, known locally
as Seventh Street, will be taken over by a newly hired contractor.
The firm, J. McLoughlin Engineering Company
from Rancho Cucamonga, will begin working on the project June 28, according
to a Caltrans news release.
"At this point, we estimate it should take
about three months to complete," said Cathy McLoughlin, a secretary with
the firm.
The project will stretch along Seventh
Street from Pacific Coast Highway to the San Diego Freeway. When completed,
the westbound Route 22 bridge over the San Gabriel River will be widened
and rubberized asphalt pavement will be applied to the road's surface.
Drainage work will also be finished.
The company change is the result of the
previous contractor's agreement default, McLoughlin said. |
