More than 1,700 terriers representing 20
different breeds appeared in a dog show held by Great Western Terrier Association
of Southern California, Inc. at Cal State Long Beach on June 23 and 24.
"This show probably has some of the best
terriers in the world," said Jack Smith, president of the association.
According to Smith, exhibitors and spectators traveled to Long Beach from
all over the country to participate in this event.
Skye Terrier breeder and exhibitor Karen
J'Anthony journeyed all the way from Dover, Del.
"We won the best of breed," J'Anthony said,
referring to her teammate, Nikki. "It's prestigious to win a national specialty
show."
According to Smith, he enjoys holding the
Great Western Terrier Association show at CSULB, which has played host
to this show six times in the past.
The Long Beach Kennel Club and Golden Retriever
Club of Greater Los Angeles will hold canine confirmation competitions
at CSULB June 29 through July 2.
