Translation Competition

The Shizuoka prefecture Board of Education
in Japan is opening its third International Translation Competition to
encourage the appreciation of Japanese literature around the world.
Submissions of translations will be accepted through Dec. 15, 2000.
Applicants must choose one work from the
list provided in each category of fiction and literary criticism and translate
it into either English or German.
Applications are open for anyone except
for those who have had a translation published. Works done by two
or more persons will not be accepted.
