Honor society inducts students

Summer Forty-Niner
Sixteen recent Cal State Long Beach graduates
have been initiated into Phi Beta Kappa, the university announced.
The honor society, generally considered
the nation's most prestigious, also awarded three scholarships.
Kathryn Gainey of Lakewood, who is bound
for Harvard Law School, received the first $5,000 Roberta H. Markman Phi
Beta Kappa Award.
Tobias Dean Halvarson of La Mirada, who
will be studying law at UC Berkeley, received a $2,200 scholarship. Shaina
Wogsberg of Long Beach, who is planning to do post-graduate work in biology,
received a $1,000 award.
Other inductees include Long Beach-area
residents Mary Rose Villanueva Gahon, Rosemary Alice Joy Hulce, Alisa Stern,
Kari Lin Tyler, Leanne Mary Gamble and Susy Jo'An Zepeda.
Also inducted were Flavio Acosta III of
Downey, Carlos Fernando Castillo of Torrance, Joanna Marie Gonsalvez of
La Mirada, Melissa April Winham of Temple City, Jennifer Nicole Bailly
of Huntington Beach, Allison Du Rose Pettis of Westminster and Wajeeh Maysara
Saadi of Fountain Valley. |
