The music department will be welcoming two new faculty members to Cal State Long Beach.

Jonathon Talberg will take on the role of director of choral studies and Daniel Zanutto will be part of the music education program.

Talberg, a native Southern Californian, recently completed a doctorate degree at the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music where he focused his studies in vocal performance.

He has been the conducting assistant for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and also the Cincinnati Pops.

Daniel Zanutto has been chair of the music department and director of instrumental music studies in Clovis, which is Northern California.

Zanutto also designed and developed a K-12 instrumental music program for California schools.

He has directed both jazz and classical ensembles, receiving the "Lifetime Achievement in Jazz Education Award" from DownBeat Magazine in 1996.

CSULB's Department of Music has more than 350 undergraduate and graduate music students.

The Music Department is part of the College of the Arts at CSULB, which has more than 2500 students studying in six departments: Art, Dance, Design, Film and Electronic Arts, Music, and Theatre Arts.
