With four Long Beach State women's basketball players scoring in double figures, the 49ers defeated the UC Irvine, 73-58, at The Pyramid Sunday.
Lengthening their home winning streak to 10 games, the Beach was led by forward Kesha Wade with 14 points. Guard Reta Sula added 13 points along with seven assists. Charel Bailey poured in 12 points to go along with nine rebounds. Rhonda Smith tallied nine points and four blocks.
The 49ers, while being out rebounded by the Anteaters 47-42, managed
to start strong with a 34-29 first half lead on 15-of-36 shooting. While
the Anteaters shot just 10-of-31 and finish with a .329 percentage. The
49ers finished with a .439 percentage. The Beach also tallied six blocks
to the Anteaters' one.
