Get carded on campus. And not just at The Nugget.

As the spring semester begins, Donna Soto, Cal State Long Beach Idenfication Office manager, said approximately 20,070 people have recieved new identification cards.

More than 15,300 students received the new cards at the Carding Event held during the fall semester in the Student Union, Soto said.

The Identification Card Office, located at the southwest corner of the University Bookstore, has issued approximately 100 to 200 cards each day in December and January.

Those students who have not gotten their cards, will find it fast and convenient to get their new card.

The Office will be open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the academic year.

To get the card, students need to bring a valid driver's license, passport or the old CSULB card and proof of registration to the Office.

A short application and agreement form will be filled out and a color picture of the student will be taken. The card will be ready to use in 2 to 5 minutes.

Unlike the old cards, the new cards are in color and do not show a student's social security number.

The card provides students with access to many services. The card has the ability to serve as identification, a library card, an AT&T calling card and a Beach Club debit card.

The Beach Club debit card can be used as cash at the Bookstore, University Art Store, convenience stores, University Dining Services, Library Copy Center and copiers, computer labs, University Student Union locations and Student Health Services.

Students can deposit money into their Beach Club account using cash, check, money order or major credit card at the Office or upstairs at customer service in the Bookstore. Cash deposits can be made at Value Transfer Stations.

Value Transfer Stations are currently located in the library copy center and the Bookstore. A station for the Student Union is also planned.

"Using my Beach Club card is convenient because I don't always have to have cash to buy stuff on campus," recreation major Eric Lee said.
