Editors ready for action

Here it is.

Another semester.

I have just one promise.

We at the Daily Forty-Niner will work hard to put out the best newspaper possible.

Our editors are talented, experienced and hardworking. Here's a brief look.

· Managing Editor Maria Vega will be a copyediting intern at the San Jose Mercury News this summer. She has also been an assistant news editor at the Forty-Niner.

· City Editor Ana Tintocalis interned during the summer of 1998 at Jones Intercable Channel 3 News in Palmdale.

· Diversions Editor Patricia Oropeza is a former Forty-Niner news editor and is currently working in Torrance at Bobit Publishing as an editorial assistant.

· Sports Editor Wes Woods has been a features editor at The Sentinel at North Idaho College before transferring in the fall of 1998 to Cal State Long Beach.

· Photo Editor Mediha Fejzagic DiMartino interned during the summer of 1998 as a staff photographer at Oslobodenje in Sarajevo, Bosnia.

· Opinion Editor Alison Young interned as an editorial assistant during the summer of 1998 at Detour magazine. She is also a former city editor of the Forty-Niner.

I strongly encourage you to call us at (562) 985-8000 with your story ideas, suggestions or concerns. You can drop in, too. We're in the basement, affectionately called The Dungeon, of the SSPA building, Room 005. We want to hear from our readers.

- Rick Alonzo is the editor in chief of the Daily Forty-Niner. He is a sports intern at the Daily Breeze and has also interned as a metro reporter at The Denver Post.
