Shuttle not meeting students' needs

If you ride the shuttle at Cal State Long Beach consider this.

It is 5 p.m. and you are on your way to the shuttle stop. Picking up the pace, you stride faster and faster, trying to get to that campus connection sign before the shuttle. Your breathing becomes rapid as you tell yourself, "hurry, hurry!"

When you finally make it, you smile. You are proud of yourself for making it just in time. As you step to the curb, the shuttle passes by. Apparently it is full.

Anger fills your heart as the driver seemingly smirks at you as the bus passes. Your blood begins to boil and your knees feel like they are going to give out.

The off-campus shuttle has just passed you by. Everyone who has been in this situation knows that another shuttle will not be coming for at least 30 minutes.

Transportation services needs to expand its bus fleet with the expanding campus population. Currently, CSULB has almost 28,000 students, and not enough shuttles.

You do the math; Too many students and too few shuttles equals too many unhappy students.
