Vaccine affects locals

I just wanted to applaud the Our View article, "Anthrax vaccine creates disaster," dated May 10, 1999. My 21-year-old cousin, a Naval officer, is currently fighting pressure from peers and superiors to take the vaccine.

Friends of his who have already taken the shots, have warned him not to do it. They say they have suffered what they believe are side effects of the vaccine, such as sterility, impotence and health problems involving their offspring. As a family, we support and stand by him as we pray that everything will turn out OK.

We would rather he die fighting for what he believes, than to be a guinea pig and suffer from the vaccine. Thank you for raising your voice in the fight against the vaccine. What the military is doing to this country's young soldiers is a crime.
