The reviews are in.

Visitors to Cal State Long Beach's 1999 Kaleidoscope Festival had mostly positive things to say about the six-hour event which featured a day full of diverse activities, ethnic food taste-testing and entertainment.

"I thought that this was a nice opportunity for parents to see where their children go to school," Long Beach resident Elena Grassi said. "My granddaughter is jealous that her older sister goes to CSULB. She thought that people get a chance to win goldfish everyday."

"There seemed to be more people here this year and there are a lot more activities," CSULB student Katie Kurey said.

One of the attractions was the Fourth Annual Long Beach Unified School District Science Fair. The fair consisted of students in kindergarten through eighth grade exhibiting their science projects.

Participating students in the science fair said they

really enjoyed this year's Kaleidoscope.

"It was interesting to see all the other student's science projects displayed," said Celina Avila, eighth grade student at Bancroft Hubert Howe Junior High School.

"There were some pretty interesting tricks in the show," said Danny Colter, a Huntington Beach resident, who participated in a science and magic performance during the event called "The Wizard."

Hoewever, the Kaleidoscope event did not impress all its attendees.

"I thought that there would be some more attractions besides what was there," Long Beach resident Leticia Alvarez said.
